The necessity of wildness…
In 1909, five years before his death,
the Scottish-born American naturalist,
glaciologist & environmental advocate,
John Muir, observed that ‘Thousands of
tired, nerve-shaken, over-civilised people
are beginning to find out that going to
the mountains is going home; that wildness
is a necessity’. In Andorra, work has begun
on a new project that translates Muir’s
vision of going to the mountains in order
to go home into a piece of physical
architecture, rooted in the wild beauty of
the surrounding landscape.
