‘The whole of philosophy… resembles a circle of circles. The Idea appears in each single circle, but, at the same time… each is a necessary member of the organisation…’ GWF Hegel

As the stone courses rise up the façades
of the chapel at Novy Dvur, the character
of this key element of the monastic city
becomes incrementally clearer, as a new
expression of the vocabulary of forms and
details developed during the main cloister
project. Each of these successive additions
over recent years — industry, guest house,
visitor reception and most recently the
chapel — changes profoundly the way
the different pieces of the masterplan
relate to one another and to the way the
overall architectural composition is read
and experienced.
