‘Most of my books have always worked through juxtaposition, jumping through different point of views and time’. Colson Whitehead

While the architecture of Renzo Piano’s
original Beyeler Museum remains
untouched, the composition of Fondation
Beyeler in Basel has been transformed
by the addition of three buildings by
Peter Zumthor: the Wyss Museum, the
Ammann Pavilion and the Erlen Gatehouse.
This reality of multiple layers, dialogues
and juxtapositions — between new and
existing structures and embedded within
the character of Zumthor’s designs —
becomes a powerful lens through which
to experience the architecture.
