Architecture of Truth

In the mid-1950s the architectural
photographer and artist Lucien Hervé
shot a sequence of black and white
photographs of the twelfth century
Cistercian Abbey of Le Thoronet in
Provence, showing how the changing
light conditions affected the architecture
over the course of one day.

In 2001 the Pawson office collaborated
with Phaidon on a project to re-issue
Hervé’s celebrated visual essay, retaining
Le Corbusier’s original foreword, but
redesigning the book and adding new
text elements.
