Coinciding with the opening of a major exhibition at the Design Museum in London, Phaidon Press publishes a new title, John Pawson Plain Space. Its author, Alison Morris, has been part of the Pawson office for the past decade and the book draws on the uniquely personal perspective her experiences have brought. Through a series of thematic essays and narrative project descriptions, she examines the office’s day-to-day working methods, the various stages of the design process and the intricacies of the relationship between architect and client. Commissions covered include residential projects in Sweden, Japan, Italy, Luxembourg, Belgium and the US, the Sackler Crossing at Kew's Royal Botanic Gardens, a school cricket pavilion, collaboration on two yachts, the set for a new ballet and sacred commissions in Bohemia, Burgundy and Bavaria.
