‘I have always imagined that Paradise will be a kind of library’ Jorge Luis Borges

There is particular resonance in the task of designing a library for a private house during a time of lockdown, when the interior worlds of books increasingly become the spaces that we inhabit. These photographs of a study model explore what happens when the reassuring simplicity of the functional demands we make on the places to which we withdraw to read — a comfortable chair, some shelves, sufficient light — is allied to the controlled interplay of proportion, scale, sunlight and shadow.
