‘Every moment of light and dark is a miracle’ Walt Whitman

The atmosphere of architectural space can begin to emerge long before a project is formally finished. When the work involves an existing structure, this can be partly due to the enduring spirit of place. In the way atmosphere is also intimately connected with the specific composition of light and shadow, its character is experienced incrementally, with each newly completed opening and surface.
