John Pawson

High within the precincts of the old citadel
lie the adjacent structures of Jaffa’s
nineteenth-century French Hospital and the
former School of the Sisters of St Joseph,
subjects of a project to create W’s first
hotel in Israel. The aim of the architectural
intervention currently in progress is to
preserve the site’s powerful atmosphere,
while retuning the existing buildings and
adding significant contemporary
